All five of the Bruins each went 2-2 this weekend at the State Meet in Bakersfield.
WRESTLING SEASON COMES TO AN END
All five qualifying wrestlers won two matches each at the State Meet this weekend in Bakersfield. Advancing the furthest was Lyndell Scarr who fell one match away from making the top 8. Alex Greybill went 2-2, Tim Ditrich 2-2, Jesse Routsong 2-2, and Paul Buchanan also finished 2-2. Ponderosa tied for 44th place with 24 points.

Next up for the Bruins will be Reno Worlds in Reno, Nevada. The tournament is April 9th-11th and the registration cut off is March 25th. -Reno World website

Lyndell Scarr
On Saturday night in Stockton, both Lyndell Scarr and Paul Buchanan were SJ Masters champions.
5 HEADED TO BAKERSFIELD
Saturday night ended very well for the Bruins as they captured two Masters Championships by Lyndell Scarr and Paul Buchanan. Scarr won by fall in the first period and Buchanan squeaked out an overtime win with a late escape. Also advancing to the State Meet in Bakersfield were Alex Greybill (5th), Tim Ditrich (6th) and Jesse Routsong (5th). Advancing to the second day but falling short of placing were seniors Kyle Meniketti, Gaaret Marinelli and Kenny Steers. All 12 Bruins that entered the tournament helped score points that lead Pondo to a 4th place finish behind Oakdale (3rd), Elk Grove (2nd) and Vacaville (1st).


Alex Greybill
On Saturday evening at Divisionals, Alex Greybill was the champion at 112 lbs.
DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONS
The Ponderosa Bruins squeaked out a team championship over Del Oro on Saturday evening at the Divisionals held at Oak Ridge high school. Pondo could only advance four wrestlers to the finals and had to settle for two champions, Alex Greybill and Lyndell Scarr. Also advancing next week to the Masters tournament in Stockton were; Tim Ditrich 2nd, Kyle Meniketti 3rd, Walker Ditrich 4th, Jesse Routsong 3rd, Aaron DeMay 2nd, Gaaret Marinelli 3rd, Allen Emmons 4th, Kenny Steers 5th, Paul Buchanan 3rd and Riley Nooner 5th. Erik Greybill's season was cut short after a season ending injury.


Kenny Steers
On Saturday, Kenny Steers was an SVC champion and advanced to Divisionals next weekend at Oak Ridge.
ALL 14 MOVING ON TO DIVISIONALS
Saturday was another great day for the Bruins at the SVC meet at Union Mine. Pondo came away with nine champions and advanced all 14 wrestlers to Divisionals next Friday and Saturday at Oak Ridge. Taking first place were Erik and Alex Greybill, Tim Ditrich, Jesse Routsong, Aaron DeMay, Gaaret Marinelli, Kenny Steers, Lyndell Scarr and Paul Buchanan. The top five in each weight at Divisionals will advance to the SJ Masters meet in Stockton, February 26th and 27th.


Sean Melton
Sean Melton got a big pin to help the Bruins win their 20th team section title on Saturday.
TEAM SECTION CHAMPIONS
On Saturday the Bruins won their 20th team section title by defeating Del Oro in the finals by a score of 32-22. They found themselves down early as they lost the first three matches. They then rallied back winning four matches in a row to take a slight lead. Ponderosa then won four more consecutive matches in the lower weights and keep the lead from there. Earlier in the day, the Bruins defeated Nevada Union by a score of 48-12. Next up is the SVC league meet at Union Mine next Saturday. The first qualifying tournament on the way to the State meet in Bakersfield.


Allen Emmons
Allen Emmons won the Rodriguez tournament over the weekend in Fairfield.
BRUINS 1ST PLACE AT RODRIGUEZ TOURNEY
Ponderosa took 1st Place at the Lou Encalada Tournament at Rodriguez HS in Fairfield. 1st place went to Jesse Routsong, Gaaret Marinelli, Allen Emmons and Kenny Steers. 2nd place finishes went to Alex Greybill, Aaron DeMay and Lyndell Scarr. Walker Ditrich took 3rd place and Riley Nooner placed 4th.

Ponderosa is looking forward to wrapping up a perfect SVC season with its dual meet at Vista del Lago on Wednesday night. With a win, Ponderosa will become the first seed at the "Team Section" meet on Saturday at Rosemont HS. Ponderosa will be seeking its 20th "Team Section Championship."


Ponderosa vs Union Mine
Lyndell Scarr made the finals Saturday night but fell to number one seed, Austin Moorehead 4-1.
BRUINS 1ST PLACE AT TIM BROWN
The Tim Brown Memorial Tournament in downtown Sacramento took place this weekend with 78 teams entered. The Bruins left the Memorial Auditorium as the champions. Lyndell Scarr was the lone finalist but the Bruins finished with eight placers. Taking 2nd was Lyndell Scarr, 3rd place was Paul Buchanan, 4th place was Jesse Routsong, taking 5th was Alex Greybill and Aaron DeMay, taking 7th was Gaaret Marinelli and Kenny Steers and taking 8th place was Tim Ditrich. The Bruins won a lot of very close matches throughout the two days which eventually got them the team victory.


Ponderosa vs Union Mine
The Bruin seniors took the mat for the last time at home on Wednesday night against Union Mine.
SNAKES GO DOWN ON SENIOR NIGHT
Wednesday night was a big success as the seniors took the mat for the last time at home. The Bruins won nine matches with four coming by fall. The dual finished at 45-23 but the Bruins lost some key matches on the night. The seniors pictured above from left to right: Lyndell Scarr, Gaaret Marinelli, Kyle Meniketti, Jesse Routsong, Aaron DeMay, Paul Buchanan, Kenny Steers and Jarrett McAdams.


Ponderosa vs Oak Ridge
Walker Ditrich got a big win on Thursday night at 135 lbs. against the Oak Ridge Trojans.
BRUINS TAKE DOWN THE TROJANS
It was a big night for the Bruins as they traveled down the road to El Dorado Hills to take on rival Oak Ridge. Pondo won 11 of the 14 matches and four of those matches by pin. Getting the big falls were Alex Greybill, Aaron DeMay, Lyndell Scarr and Riley Nooner. After Nooner's fall at heavyweight, the scored finished at 50-16.


Doc Buchanan Invitational
Erik Greybill has a great tournament and finishes 2nd place at the Doc Buchanan Invitational.
BRUINS 7TH AT DOC BUCHANAN
Five Bruin wrestlers placed at the prestigious Doc Buchanan Invitational this past weekend. Coming home with medals were Erik Greybill 2nd, Jesse Routsong 7th, Aaron DeMay 7th, Paul Buchanan 7th and Alex Greybill 8th. The team finished the weekend with a 7th place.


El Cajon Invitational
Jesse Routsong's 3rd place helped the Bruins finish 7th at the El Cajon Invitational in San Diego.
SIX BRUINS PLACE IN SAN DIEGO
Six Bruin wrestlers made the trek back home with medals from the El Cajon Invitational in San Diego. Placing were Jesse Routsong 3rd, Paul Buchanan 3rd, Ken Steers 4th, Tim Ditrich 6th, Allen Emmons 7th and Sean Melton 8th. Ponderosa finished tied for 7th place among the 60 plus schools that attended. The Bruins will be back in action in Clovis at the Doc Buchanan Invitational January 8th and 9th.


Jailbreak Duals
The Bruins were 5-0 and beat tournament host Folsom in the finals at the Jailbreak Duals on Saturday.
PONDEROSA FIRST AT JAILBREAK DUALS
Another great weekend for Ponderosa as they completed the day 5-0 and moved to 12-0 on the season. Throughout the day the Bruins defeated Novato 66-0, Atwater 63-6, Exeter 38-33, Franklin 52-12 and Folsom in the finals 47-19. The four wrestlers that finished undefeated and named to the All-Tournament team were Nick Troquato, Jesse Routsong, Aaron DeMay, Allen Emmons and Paul Buchanan.


Team Sections
Gaaret Marinelli went undefeated on the day at the Pondo Duals this past Friday.
BRUINS FIRST PLACE AT PONDO DUALS
This past weekend was the Ponderosa Varsity and JV Duals at Ponderosa High School. Varsity competition took place on Friday with the Bruins finishing 1st place by winning their five duals. They defeated Rodriquez in the finals while beating Roseville, Lincoln, Will C. Wood and Woodcreek on their way. Several wrestlers went 5-0 and were named to the All-Tournament Team.

On Saturday the JV also finished first place by going 5-0 on the day. They took down Del Oro in the finals. Both the varsity and jv will be back in action this Wednesday against Cordova at home.
